If you’ve got an
Xbox 360, then you must be an avid gamer. And like all gamers, you
don’t want to be interrupted right when you’re in the middle of Halo 3,
looking set to progress to the next level. About the worse thing that
can happen at that stage is for you to experience Xbox 360 problems.
But believe it or not, that’s exactly what happens when you’ve used
your Xbox long enough. In time, you’ll be facing a number of issues
with your Xbox console. Some are more prevalent than others. Here are 3
of the most common ones.
1.
3 Red Lights
This is by far the greatest fear in the Xbox 360 gaming arena – the
phantom of the 3 red lights. One minute you’re happily plugging away at
the aliens as Master Chief, and the next, you’re staring at 3 flashing
red lights on the screen. And no matter how much you flick your Xbox
360, they don’t disappear. Your Xbox 360 has crashed.
You don’t like taunts any more than the next guy, but red light Xbox
360 problems speak of deeper issues with your favorite toy. Hardware
malfunction is the primary culprit. Your motherboard has gone into
overdrive and overheated. Both the Central Processing Unit (CPU) and
the Gaming Processing Unit (GPU) have literally burnt themselves out.
Not necessarily from your prolonged gaming sessions, though. It’s a
design flaw in the hardware itself. You probably won’t get this most
dreaded of Xbox 360 problems in the first few weeks of gaming.
Over a couple of months or so, you’ll notice the screen freezing
occasionally and irritating graphic glitches occurring. Those are the
signs that tell you you’re headed down the red rings road.
2.
Scaler Chip Burn Out
Let’s say you haven’t got three red lights on your screen but just one.
That doesn’t mean you haven’t got a serious issue, it just means you’ve
got a different one. These sorts of Xbox 360 problems can really upset
your
gaming session.
One red light is possibly an E74 error that points to a scaler chip
burn out. This chip deals with the AV cable and the signal that you get
on your console. It’s the source of the spectacular graphics that’s got
you hooked to your Xbox. You know your scaler chip has called it a day
when you’re all revved up to start play and you get an error message
onscreen instead.
3.
DVD Drive Error
Xbox 360 problems also come in the form of a non-functioning DVD drive.
Your Xbox suddenly refuses to play the game when you slot a game disc
in the drive. That’s because it can’t read the disc.
The reason for this is that the connectors on the back of the drive
have absorbed too much heat. And your DVD drive goes up in smoke. In a
manner of speaking. You won’t resolve the matter by slotting various
games into the drive to see if any will work. None will.
These are the Xbox 360 problems that gamers usually face when playing
with
their Xbox 360. As the console has been on the market for about four
years, the likelihood of issues arising from hardware failure or
overheating is fairly high.
You should be aware of the most common issues that could arise with
your Xbox, especially if you’ve recently bought one. Knowing what will
cause your Xbox to crash is the first step to realizing how to deal
with the issues when they eventually turn up. Otherwise you just might
regard your Xbox as a write off at the first sign of trouble and decide
to dump it!
